Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo: Basics of Taking Refuge
Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo: Basics of Taking Refuge
In May 2009, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo also came to the Hanseatic city as part of her European tour at the invitation of the Tibetan Center Hamburg.
After a public lecture at the Rudolf Steiner House with the content "Life as Practice" she gave a weekend seminar on the topic "Renunciation and the Spirit of Enlightenment". On May 25, Jetsunma also visited the rooms of the Drukpa Center Hamburg. Here she taught the basics of the refuge name and answered questions about space and time. Much to our great happiness, she blessed all those present and our shrine room.
About
Jetsunma is a Buddhist nun who has successfully promoted the rights of nuns to education and spiritual development and continues to do so tirelessly. At the request of her master and other lamas, she had succeeded in establishing a nunnery in northern India. In February 2008, H.H. the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa conferred upon her the honorary title of "Jetsunma" (Venerable Master) - a title very rarely bestowed upon nuns, which underscores her spiritual achievements as well as her special commitment to the status of female practitioners in Tibetan Buddhism.
