Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo
The visit
The Tibetan centre of Hamburg had invited Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo to pay a visit to the Hanseatic City during her teaching tour through Europe in May.
After a public speech on “Life as practice“ in the Rudolf Steiner Haus she gave a weekend seminar on “Renunciation and Bodhicitta”. Am 25th May Jetsunma also visited the Drukpa centre Hamburg. On this occasion she spoke about the basic concept of taking refuge and answered questions about space and time. We were very happy that all participants and our shrine room were blessed.

Jetsunma is a Buddhist nun who successfully fought and still fights for the right to education and spiritual development for nuns. On several requests by her master and other lamas she finally managed opening a nunnery in northern India. In February 2008, Tenzin Palmo was given the title of Jetsunma, which means Venerable Master, by His Holiness the 12th Gualwang Drukpa. It is a rare honour for a nun to receive this title in recognition of her spiritual achievements and her efforts in promoting the status of female practitioners in Tibetan Buddhism.
