To start his visit Khenpo Sonam Gyatso Rinpoche gave a public talk in the sold out hall of the Park Hyatt hotel about the topic "economy and money from the point of view of the universal truth". At this he explained central fundamentals of Buddhism and talked about impermanence, the true nature of the mind and how we can gain contentment. Addressing the focus of the evening Khenpo Rinpoche explained a reasonable, beneficial handling of money and property and the beneficial concentration on the well-being of others.

A cultural highlight completed the evening: The Tibetan singer Dechen Shak Dagsay deliverd an insight into her art of singing and offered Khenpo Rinpoche a mantra.

In his teachings about the generation of the mind of enlightenment – "Boddhichitta" – this charismatic master introduced in great wideness and clarity the stages to enlightenment from the Lamrin. Khenpo Rinpoche taught about the different abilities of practitioners and the concomitant different motivations and goals. He talked about thoughts and mind, the development of attachment and infatuation as well as about methods to dissolve them – always accompanied by the development of compassion. Repeatedly Rinpoche emphasized thereby the importance of wisdom, which finally liberates us from our difficulties.

Crowning conclusion of his teachings was the blessing and the empowerment in Vajrapani – the powerful Dharma Protector.
